Deanna Richardson joins the Sharks from Antelope High School in Antelope, California. The 5-foot-3 middle infielder/utility player is pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering at Hawai?i Pacific.
Richardson was a standout multi-sport athlete, competing in softball, flag football, and track & field during her high school career under head coach Bernie Melendez. As a senior, she earned First Team All-Metropolitan League honors in softball, was selected to the Sacramento Area Optimist High School Softball All-Star Team, and served as a team captain. She also excelled in flag football, earning Metro League Defensive Player of the Year, Team MVP, multiple All-League honors, and team captain recognition. In track & field, she qualified for the Sac-Joaquin Section Championships in the 300-meter hurdles.
Equally accomplished in the classroom, Richardson earned numerous academic honors, including AP Scholar with Distinction, National Honor Society Lifetime Award, Project Lead the Way Scholar Medal, Academic Merit Double Gold, and Scholar Athlete recognition.
Richardson chose HPU because it allows her to pursue both her engineering ambitions and her passion for softball in an environment where she immediately felt at home. Away from the field, she enjoys reading, cooking, baking, running, spending time outdoors, and learning new instruments.
