Men’s Soccer Tops BYU-Hawaii

Laie, HI (11/2/10) – On the campus of BYU-Hawaii, the HPU men's soccer team defeated the Seasiders 2-0. The Sea Warriors scored a goal in each half as they improved to 11-6 overall and 10-3 in the PacWest. BYUH dropped to 3-11-1 overall and 2-10-1 in conference.

HPU opened the scoring in the 30th minute after dominating BYUH to that point. A combination of passes between Chance Bukoski and Richard Guffens sprung Kimo Komomua free at the top of the penalty box. Komomua struck his shot low inside the post to give HPU a 1-0 lead.

The second half featured a more even contest with both teams earning chances on goal. The Sea Warriors sealed the win late in the match when Isaiah Guth hit a long ball over the top of the Seasider backline to a sprinting Bukoski. Bukoski one-timed the pass over the head of BYUH goalkeeper Zachary Rasmussen.

HPU plays its season finale this Saturday, November 6, versus UH-Hilo. Start time at Atherton Field is set for 12:30 p.m.
