Honolulu, HI (12/27/10) – Fresh off its first-ever Malika Sports Hoop 'N Surf Classic sweep, the HPU women's basketball team takes on Westminster College on New Year's Day in the final non-conference game of the season.
After a two week holiday lay-off, HPU will look to keep the momentum going. Wins over Charleston and Fayetteville State have pushed HPU's record over .500 and extended the winning streak to four games.
Junior forward Mana Hopkins averaged 21 points and 6.5 rebounds for the two games, while junior guard Paris Gravely averaged 19 points and 4.5 rebounds. Both were named to the All-Tournament Team. Hopkins and Gravely are tied for the team lead in scoring at 12.3 points per game, good for ninth in the PacWest. Hopkins was named PacWest Player of the Week for her efforts.
In 2010, HPU was 8-0 in the month of January.
