IRVINE, Calif. — Hawai'i Pacific outscored Concordia Irvine 28-27 in a back-and-forth fourth quarter to secure a 78-73 PacWest road victory Saturday evening inside CU Arena.

The Sharks (10-17, 9-13 PacWest) shot an efficient 50 percent from the field and knocked down 89.5 percent of their free throws, including 12-of-13 in the final quarter to seal the win. The contest featured eight lead changes and remained tight throughout, but HPU's composure late proved decisive.

Alana Roberts delivered a dominant performance, scoring 19 points on 9-of-10 shooting while anchoring the interior presence. Kyra Tanabe added 17 points, four assists and a perfect 4-for-4 effort at the free throw line. Jalen Samuel chipped in 13 points and four rebounds, while Lucia Ricci and Mya Hatchett each added nine points. Hatchett also contributed five rebounds and three assists.

Hawai'i Pacific controlled key statistical areas, scoring 42 points in the paint and converting 20 fast-break points. The Sharks also capitalized on turnovers, turning 20 CUI miscues into 21 points.

Trailing by one heading into the fourth quarter, HPU executed down the stretch with timely baskets and steady free throw shooting to close out the five-point win.

The victory gives the Sharks their ninth conference win as they close out PacWest play.
