Sea Warriors Sweep Urban Knights, Amaral Sets RBI Record

Waipahu, HI (5/1/10) – At Hans L'Orange Park, HPU sophomore Blake Amaral broke the single-season RBI record as the Sea Warriors swept a doubleheader from Academy of Art University. HPU took game one 14-5, then won the nightcap 7-4. HPU improves to 37-10 overall and 27-4 in the PacWest, while AAU drops to 6-37 overall and 2-25 in conference.

Amaral, who already owns the single-game RBI record, hit his 50th RBI in game one to tie the record, then eclipsed it with an RBI in game two.

Toby Inouye (7-2) earned the win in game one, pitching five complete innings allowing three runs on six hits. Darnell Quinney (1-10) received the loss for AAU, allowing 10 earned runs in five and one-third innings of work.

Kale Sumner batted 3-3 with two runs and two RBI, and Wade Tamaru added three hits, one run, and four RBI. Jared DePatto led the Urban Knights with three hits and four RBI.

In game two, Caelen O'Meara (6-1) pitched six complete innings for the win, allowing four runs on five hits with six strikeouts. Chad Wagner pitched the seventh inning for his second save. Alex Rosenthal (1-9) was tagged with the loss, allowing six earned runs in six innings of work.

Bas Nooij recorded three hits and two RBI, and Amaral and Lester Akeo each added two hits. Johnathan Robbins led AAU with two hits and two runs.

HPU concludes the regular season tomorrow, May 2, with a doubleheader versus Academy of Art. First pitch at Hans L'Orange Park is set for 12:00 p.m.
