Waipahu, HI (February 26, 2010) – The defense for Hawai'i Pacific hit an all-time low on Saturday, committing 10 errors in a 13-7 loss to Northwest Nazarene in the final game of the series. The ten errors are a program record, the previous record of eight stood since 1985.
HPU's offense, for the second time in as many games, recorded double-digit hits. Despite the lopsided score, NNU and HPU each had 15 hits. Starter Michael Greene was removed after four and a third innings, he allowed 10 runs, but none of them were earned.
The Sea Warriors took the early 2-1 lead after a two-run triple by Troy Ajer, his second of the season. The offense wouldn't score again until the seventh inning; a two RBI double by Kale Sumner, and a RBI single by Blake Amaral were part of the four-run inning.
Troy Ajer had a big game going 4-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Jordan Oshiro, Les Akeo, Amaral, and Rylan Morihara each had two hits for HPU. The Sea Warriors now fall to 2-8.
J.T. Broderick got his second win of the series for NNU, who is now 11-1.
HPU will open the PacWest season on Saturday with a doubleheader at 2 P.M. at Hans L'Orange Park against Grand Canyon.
