Hilo, HI (February 26, 2011) – The Lady Sea Warriors rebounded from their first loss of the season with an 8-1 victory over UH-Hilo. HPU won first through fifth singles, all in straight sets, and only gave up 12 total points in 10 sets. The seventh-ranked Sea Warriors are now 7-1.
Maria Fagerstrom won in her Sea Warrior debut, teaming up with Ielyzaveta Rybakova at second doubles. The senior pair of Sandra Wikstrom and Aleksandra Stankovic where moved up to first doubles and won 8-3. With Celina Goetti out, Zora Vlckova teamed up with Florie Paquay for an 8-0 romp at third doubles.
With the exception of the loss at sixth singles, HPU dominated singles play was and was not challenged in any match. Carrie Shuler made her return to the lineup and won 6-0, 6-1.
HPU plays at UH-Hilo again Sunday, start time is 10 A.M.
The men's match has been suspended due to darkness; the score is 4-4 with the sixth singles match still being played. They will finish on Sunday, before the scheduled match at 9 A.M.
