Waipahu, HI (2/5/11) – The seventh ranked Sea Warriors defeated Chaminade 7-2, winning five of the six singles matches. The match played at Central Oahu Regional Park, opened the season for both teams.
Hawaii Pacific newcomers Florie Paquay and Carrie Shuler recorded their first collegiate wins. Shuler was in control in her 6-0, 6-3 win over Natalie Phanphengdy. Paquay was also impressive, taking down Stacey Chaussoy, 6-1, 6-1. Two time All-American Zora Vlckova was victorious over Yanita Arnaudova, 6-3, 6-2 in first singles.
The Sea Warriors got two doubles points, the veteran doubles team of Aleksandra Stankovic Sandra Wikstrom beat Natalie Phanpengdy and Jan Matsumoto 8-6 to earn one. The other came in the 8-3 doubles victory for Zora Vlckova and Florie Paquay over Karen and Stacey Chaussoy.
Hawaii Pacific now travels to Phoenix to play four matches in four days, starting with Dallas Baptist University on February 10th.
