San Diego, CA (March 13, 2011) - Petr Michnev won for the eleventh time in as many tries as a Sea Warrior, and still has yet to drop a set in his Hawai'i Pacific career. This time the victim, Emanuel Fraitzl, held the number one ranking in the country. Nonetheless, Michnev won with relative ease, 6-3, 6-3. Unfortunately for HPU, first singles was the only point the Sea Warriors would score in an 8-1 loss to second-ranked Barry University.
Sebastian Bader lost in a 10 point tiebreaker at second singles, after he won the second set 6-3 over the 26th ranked Max Wimmer. HPU posed little threat in matches three through six.
The 25th ranked Sea Warriors lost all three doubles matches. Michnev teamed with JC Pauli to give Barry a run at third doubles, but ultimately fell 8-5.
From San Diego, HPU now heads to Las Vegas to play tomorrow against fifth-ranked West Florida at 8:30 AM.
