SUPRISE, ARIZ. — The No. 3 Hawai'i Pacific men's tennis team secured a 4-2 victory over Fresno Pacific in the PacWest Championship quarterfinals, advancing to the semifinals before falling to No. 2 Biola.
HPU set the tone early against Fresno Pacific by capturing the doubles point, earning wins by scores of 6-2 and 6-3 to take the early advantage. Carrying that momentum into singles play, the Sharks delivered in key moments to close out the match.
Adam Vasir led the way with a straight-set win, while Arthur Pery and Rene Gabriel Jung also secured straight-set victories to clinch the 4-2 team win. With the result, Hawai'i Pacific improved to 13-4 on the season and advanced to the semifinal round.
In the semifinals, the Sharks faced No. 2 seed Biola with a spot in the championship match on the line. Despite a strong postseason run, HPU fell 4-0 against the Eagles.
Biola claimed the doubles point and added singles wins on courts four and three before clinching the match on court two. The loss moved Hawai'i Pacific to 14-5 overall on the season.
