Las Vegas, NV (March 13, 2011) – In the preeminent women's tennis tournament in the country, Hawai'i Pacific fell to third-ranked Lynn University in the opening match 7-2. Zora Vlckova stayed perfect in singles play, moving to 11-0 on the season, while not even losing a set this season.
Vlckova battled in the first set, eking out a 7-5 win. In second set, the seventh-ranked Czech native cruised to a 6-3 win over the eleventh-ranked Magdalena Ekert of Poland. After losing the first set, Ielyzaveta Rybakova responded by winning the second set 6-2, and then outlasting Ioana Ivan in a 10 point tiebreaker, 11-9.
In doubles action, the Sea Warriors fell behind early in all three matches and were unable to recover.
HPU returns to the courts tomorrow for another premium matchup with fifth-ranked West Florida, first serve is slated for 8:30 AM PST.
