Las Vegas, NV (March 15, 2011) - Celina Goetti and Zora Vlckova handled the first-ranked doubles team of Barbora Krtickova and Alida Muller-Wehlau 8-3. Unfortunately for Sea Warrior fans, it was not enough to dethrone the ITA's top team, Armstrong Atlantic. HPU just missed, losing 5-4. HPU now stands at 11-4.
After the victory at first doubles, HPU used an 8-5 victory from Ielyzaveta Rybakova and Aleksandra Stankovic to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles.
In singles action, HPU knocked off two more top ten opponents. At second singles, Rybakova defeated the eighth-ranked Barbora Krtickova in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. At fifth singles, Stankovic played the match of the day beating tenth-ranked Joanna Szymczyk 2-6, 6-3, 11-9.
HPU continues its play in Las Vegas tomorrow against Cal St. Stanislaus at 12:30 PM PST.
