Las Vegas, NV (March 16, 2011) – After two straight losses, Hawai'i Pacific's top player, Petr Michnev won at first singles in straight sets. The win puts the Sea Warrior newcomer at 12-2 on the season, Michnev figures to be ranked when the new ITA rankings are released on March 30th. However, the Sea Warriors dropped the match 7-2 to Concordia University.
Doubles again was a problem area for the Sea Warriors, despite mixing up the teams. Ari Davis and Ji Hoon Heo lost at first singles 8-3 and Sebastian Bader and Matiss Libietis lost at second doubles 8-4. Michnev and JC Pauli came close at third singles, but lost 8-5.
Michnev's win, coupled with Ari Davis' triumph accounted for HPU's points. The Kiwi won at fifth singles 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. Libietis continued his strong play on the road trip, but fell 7-6, 6-7, 8-10.
HPU wraps up the road trip tomorrow against Fresno Pacific at 12:30 PM PST.
