San Francisco, CA (3/21/11) – Toby Inouye and the Hawai'i Pacific baseball team were outdueled 2-1 by the pitching of Academy of Art. Inouye went the distance in the nine inning conference game. HPU drops to 11-14 and 9-5 in the Pac West. The loss snaps a four game winning streak.
HPU took the early advantage in the second inning. With two men out, Wade Tamaru reached on an error and advanced to second. Lanan Rice-Kashima made the Urban Knights pay by singling to left-center, scoring Tamaru. The score remained 1-0 until the seventh inning when AAU scored twice.
Inouye allowed only four hits and two runs in eight innings of work while striking out four. Nick Giotta just gave up one hit in seven and two-third innings to get the win for AAU, who is now 3-18, 3-12.
The teams will play in a doubleheader tomorrow, game one will be a conference game, game two will not. First pitch in San Francisco is at 12:00 PM.
