Baseball Drops Two on Big Isle

HILO, HI (April 15, 2011) – The Hawai'i Pacific baseball team lost 12-5 and 4-0 to the University of Hawai'i-Hilo in a PacWest road doubleheader. The Sea Warriors fall to 16-17 overall and 13-9 in conference play.  

Game one saw HPU lead early. A Kale Sumner two RBI double gave HPU a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Hilo got a run back in the bottom of the first, and then put the game away with 10 total runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Starter Michael Greene gave up six runs in four innings, to get the loss, he is now 4-4. Reliever Cory Yuh also struggled, yielding five runs in two-thirds of an inning.  

Blake Amaral led the offense going 2-4 with a run scored.

In game two HPU could not get the big hit against Hilo's Bryan Raines and Chris Pascual. The Sea Warriors out hit UHH but stranded nine runners on base. Toby Inouye got the loss for HPU throwing the six inning complete game giving up four runs. Sumner again doubled in game two and Wade Tamaru and Rylan Morihara each hit 2-3.

HPU had won five of its previous six games coming into Friday.

The teams will play another PacWest doubleheader tomorrow at 1 P.M. in Hilo.
