Laie, HI (February 22, 2012) – The much anticipated regular season match between 5th ranked Hawai'i Pacific and 2nd ranked BYU-Hawai'i took place in Laie on Wednesday, HPU dropped the match 6-3.

HPU fell behind 2-1 after doubles play, losing first and second doubles. At third doubles, the Sea Warriors got a point from Ielyzaveta Rybakova and Celina Goetti who won decisively, 8-2.

It was the bottom of the lineup coming though in singles play as well. Magdalena Smejova beat Marika Kobayashi 6-1, 6-3 at fourth singles. Carrie Shuler outlasted her opponent in the match of the day at sixth singles; Shuler won 4-6, 6-3, (16-14). Goetti won the first set of her match, but dropped the next two.

HPU will next host Chaminade on February 28th at 10 AM at Central Oahu Regional Park.
