La Jolla, CA (March 10, 2012) – The fifth ranked Hawai'i Pacific women's tennis team bounced back and defeated 19th ranked UC San Diego 7-2. HPU (5-2) took five of the six singles matches on UCSD's (4-7) home court.
 
The Sea Warriors also took two doubles matches, it was the teams of Celina Goetti/Ielyzaveta Rybakova and Zora Vlckova/Lea Kruse-Utermann both winning by identical 8-3 scores.
 
HPU controlled singles play with only one of the five wins going to three sets. Goetti blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at second singles. Vivian Hansen also breezed to a 6-2, 6-2 win.
 
HPU now travels to Las Vegas, there they will face the forth and 13th ranked teams in addition to an NAIA powerhouse. HPU will play #4 Armstrong Atlantic State University on Monday at 12:30 PM.
