Waipahu, HI (March 23, 2012) – The Hawai'i Pacific women's tennis team got an 8-1 victory over Chaminade University on Friday morning at Central Oahu Regional Park. HPU won all three doubles matches and was great in the middle of the singles lineup to earn the victory.  

Lea Kruse-Utermann and Zora Vlckova improved to 8-0 on the season with an 8-1 win and third doubles. The regionally ranked pair of Ielyzaveta Rybakova and Celina Goetti had similar success with an 8-2 win. At first doubles, Vivian Hansen and Magdalena Smejova doubled up the competition, 8-4.

The cumulative score from matches two, three, four, and five was 48-9 in favor of HPU. The strong middle of the lineup clinched the victory for HPU, Kruse-Utermann and Ielyzaveta Rybakova both achieved 6-1, 6-0 wins. Goetti, playing first singles for the second time this season, went to the limit in her 1-6, 6-2, 10-7 win.

HPU will play Sonoma State tomorrow at 10:00 AM at Central Oahu Regional Park.
