San Rafael, CA (April 21, 2012) – The Hawai'i Pacific women's tennis team (16-5) lost today in the PacWest Championship final against BYU-Hawai'i (25-0). HPU lost by a 5-2 score, but was leading the two matches that were unfinished.

HPU took a doubles match off the country's top ranked team, Zora Vlckova and Lea Kruse-Utermann earned a hard fought victory at third singles, 9-8, 7-5.

Carrie Shuler continued her strong play with a 6-4, 6-3 win at fifth singles. HPU suffered losses at first and second singles, and then at fourth singles to clinch the match for the Seasiders.

HPU will now play in the NCAA West Regional next Sunday against an opponent, and at a site, to be determined.
