Pensacola, FL (April 6, 2012) – The Hawai'i Pacific men's tennis team has won seven consecutive matches, however, none were as impressive as Friday's 5-4 victory over #3 Barry University.
Georgi Yordanov brought HPU back from the brink of defeat with a three set win to tie the match at four.
Patric Guenther then clinched the match for the Sea Warriors with a heart-stopping win.
The Sea Warriors got out to an early lead after winning two of the three doubles matches. HPU was solid at the top of the lineup with wins at first and second doubles. It was

Patric Guenther who won 8-4 and
Adriano Locorotondo/Yordanov who held on for an 8-6 triumph.
Barry pulled off straight set wins at first, fourth, and sixth singles to put HPU in a hole. Locorotondo played three sets, all with 6-4 scores; the German won the first and third sets. Yordanov fell behind in his match after losing the first set 5-7, he rebounded with 6-4, 6-3 wins. With all eyes focused on Guenther, he responded with 7-5 and 6-4 wins after dropping the first set.
The road doesn't get much easier as HPU will next play #5 Valdosta State tomorrow at noon in Pensacola.
