LAIE, HI (February 28, 2013) – A day after the Hawai'i Pacific Women's Tennis Team pulled off a heart stopping win in Laie, the men (4-0) did the same thing, save the dramatics. The fifth ranked HPU men cruised to an 8-1 victory over the 44th ranked Seasiders (2-1).
 
HPU swept BYUH in doubles action although HPU was tested a little at first and second doubles. The duo of Petr Michnev and Gerald Moretti remained perfect on the season with an 8-6 win over the 15th ranked team of Zevhan Zakharov and Martin Chojnacki. Maxime Halflants and Adriano Locorotondo won by the exact same score as Jaume Martinez-Vich and Max Hertl dumped the competition 8-3.
 
With a 3-0 lead after doubles HPU quickly clinched the match. The 8th ranked Michnev dispatched number 32 Zakharov 6-4, 6-0. Halflants was overpowering at fourth singles as he was victorious 6-2, 6-1. Locorotondo had little trouble at sixth singles with a straight set 6-0, 7-5 win. With the match already in hand, Martinez-Vich and Clemens Graute each won the tiebreaker to earn the win.
 
"I think we got off to a good start in doubles today. Our guys made the needed adjustments from the match yesterday and definitely played more aggressive on the big points. It was another good win for us, especially against island rival BYU-Hawaii," said HPU Head Coach Hendrik Bode. "We now have an extremely hard road trip ahead of us and will definitely need to step it up to get where we want to be."

HPU next travels to San Diego for two matches, starting with 28th ranked UCSD on March 8th at 3:00 PM PST. The Sea Warriors have already defeated UCSD 9-0 this season.
