LAS VEGAS, NV (March 12, 2013) - For the second consecutive day, the 5th ranked Hawai'i Pacific Men's Tennis Team defeated a top 15 team. Today, HPU (7-1) dropped 14th ranked Abilene Christian University (10-7) by a convincing 8-1 score.
The Sea Warriors opened up a 3-0 lead by taking all three doubles contests. The team of

Adriano Locorotondo and
Yann Renault were pushed at second doubles, but pulled out the 9-8 (5) win.
It was a showdown at first singles as 8th ranked Michnev took on ACU's 2nd ranked Hans Hach. Michnev bested Hach in straight sets winning 6-3, 6-3. His Sea Warrior teammates followed the captain's lead and won four of the other five matches.
Martinez-Vich was perfect at second singles. Renault and
Clemens Graute each had victories over ranked opponents. Locorotondo was victorious at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-2.
"Our guys showed overall great attitude today and kept working on the necessary adjustments to progress their games. It's been a great trip for us so far and I'm really happy with the improvements they've made in the past couple days. They've done a great job of keeping their focus on their own court and playing hard for every point. We have one more match on this trip and it'll be the toughest one so far. Everyone's really looking forward to it," said head coach
Hendrik Bode.
HPU will wrap up its road trip against top ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University tomorrow in Las Vegas.
