San Diego, CA (March 7, 2013)- Fresh off their upsetting the second ranked team in the nation, the fifth ranked Hawai'i Pacific (5-0) Women's Tennis team took to the mainland to face fourteenth ranked Cal State Los Angeles (5-5) emerging victorious 7-2 over the Golden Eagles.
The Sea Warriors would get off to a good start taking two of three doubles matches to jump out to an early 2-1 lead.
Three of the six singles contests went to third-set tiebreakers, but HPU took two of those three.
Celina Goetti was able to defeat her opponent 2-6, 7-6, 10-6 in second singles while
Karen Ramirez emerged victorious 6-7, 6-4, 10-5 in third singles. Both players remain undefeated in singles completion for the year.
The Sea Warriors continue one of the toughest schedules in the nation, getting back to work tomorrow when they face UC San Diego, the 27
th ranked team in the nation, on their home courts. The match is set to begin at 12:00 PM PST.
