WAIPAHU, HI (January 14, 2014) – The fourth-ranked Hawai'i Pacific Women's Tennis Team (1-0) dismantled visiting Whitman College (0-1) by a 9-0 score to kick off the 2014 season.  
 
Division III Whitman was clearly overmatched by the Sea Warriors. HPU won all 12 matches that were played; two extra singles matches and a doubles match more than the usual nine. Only twice did HPU falter, dropping a set at first and third singles. However, in both cases, HPU responded by winning the tiebreak.
 
HPU next heads to Maui to battle with some of the best Division I teams in the country. The Maui Tournament will feature HPU, Illinois, Georgia, and Oklahoma State. Action begins Thursday and will run through Saturday.
