HONOLULU, HI (October 16, 2014) - Tomorrow is an important day for Hawai'i Pacific Soccer. Both the men's and women's teams look to stay in contention in the PacWest against Oahu rival BYU-Hawaii.
The men look to continue their PacWest dominance this season by adding onto their 5-1 record in conference play (7-4-1 overall). The women go in to tomorrow's match 3-3 in conference (6-4-1 overall) and both teams are looking to get some momentum before leaving for a very important three-game road trip.
The men face a formidable challenge in BYU-H's team. It will definitely be a battle at Atherton Field as the fifth place Seasiders (4-1-1 PacWest) travel down from the North Shore to take on the second place Sharks.
With the PacWest being top heavy in both talent and wins, any loss can be crucial when it comes to trying to take home the conference title. The men's team trails Fresno Pacific University by merely a half game, a win tomorrow would tie them for the conference lead. Coming off two key wins against Dixie State and Cal Baptist, the men hope to run with the momentum they've built and keep their eyes on the team's first conference championship since 2011. A win on Friday could potentially set up a winner-take-all match at Fresno Pacific on October 25th.
The women are sitting on a .500 record in conference play so tomorrow is a key game in dictating on how the season will end. The ladies have fought the whole way this season and they've proven their mettle on the field. Now with only two home games out of the six remaining, the women look to make one last push for the top of the standings and it all starts tomorrow.Â
The action starts with the men's game at 12:30 pm to be followed by the women's game at 3:00 pm at Atherton Field.
