Box Score KANEOHE, HI (November 1, 2014) – The Hawai'i Pacific Men's Soccer Team (8-8-1, 6-5) lost its last game on home soil 1-0 against local rival Chaminade University (4-10, 2-8) on Saturday afternoon at Atherton Field.
 
With Daniel Haere, Guillem Vinas Marin, Brais Garcia, Mark Thomson, Olivier Rolland, Jason Swihart and Alexander Berntsen, it was the last game on home ground for not less than seven seniors.
 
The Sharks, who were without key players Jackson Groves and Kona Gaison, started active in the senior day game.
 
In the 15th minute, after a corner kick from Erik Kemsies, Javier Risco Garcia fired a powerful header onto the goal but both, the header and the put back from Kemsies, were blocked by Chaminade's defense.
 
It was the Silverswords who grabbed the lead after a penalty kick decision in the 20th minute. Chaminade's Nicolas Ferro did not give the keeper any chance and converted the penalty-kick in an experienced manner.
 
Following, the Sharks struggled with several bad passes, due to poor conditions, and a smart playing Chaminade team. The Silverswords made it hard for HPU to make the plays by marking up well and playing fast over the wings.
 
After the changeover, the Sharks started to play more aggressive but could not take Chaminade's lead. Seventy-two minutes into the game, Brais Garcia had a good header on the goal but was saved again by the Silverswords' keeper.
 
The Sharks had several more shots from Nahoa Salera (79'), Ryo Sugihara (80') and Erik Kemsies (89') in the last minutes of the game but were not able to tie the game.
 
Despite the loss, the Sharks led the statistics in shots (14-8) and shots on goal (5-4). Keeper Alexander Berntsen finished the game with four saves. Kemsies led the way with four shots.
 
The Sharks will now travel to Big Island to play their last game of the season against UH Hilo on Saturday, November 8th.
