Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 WAIPAHU, HI (March 15, 2014) – There was a little bit of everything on Saturday afternoon at Hans L'Orange Park, including
Kevin Lenik hitting for the cycle in game one and a ten minute loss of the lights in game two. The Hawai'i Pacific Baseball Team (14-6, 8-4) won both ends of the doubleheader against Point Loma (13-12, 6-6) in different ways. Game one was a 10-3 blowout and game two was a dramatic 6-4 win.

Lenik was three-quarters of the way to the cycle after the fourth inning. He gave HPU a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI double and then made it 2-0 with his fourth home run of the season in the third. In the fourth, his RBI single capped the scoring.

By the end of the fourth, HPU led 6-1. In the fifth, the Sea Warriors completely blew the game open by scoring four more times to make it 10-1 game.

Lenik opened the eighth inning with a triple to complete the cycle.

Lenik has to be sad to see this week end; he went 13-25 (.520) with seven runs scored, two doubles, a triple, three home runs and 11 RBI in the eight games this week.

Derek Nakasato also had a big game; the St. Louis High School product went 3-5 with a run and three RBI.
Codey Ellenwood,
Keanu Kapana and
Jordan Oshiro each had multi-hit games.
Rico Garcia was superb on hill; he worked seven innings yielding just two runs. Despite a stellar 2.34 ERA, it is Garcia's first win of the season.

The Sea Lions bounced right back to open game two with a run in each of the first two innings. However, Oshiro singled in HPU's first run in the bottom of the second and then Nakasato plated two more runs to give the Sea Warriors a 3-2 lead. Anu Kapana doubled home another run in the third to make it a 4-2 game and it looked as if HPU was going to pull away again.

Back came Point Loma, scoring two runs in the fifth inning to tie the game.

In the bottom of the fifth inning with two out, nobody on, and a full count on
Chad Bolibol the lights went out.  Both teams were left in complete darkness, but about 10 minutes later light was restored.

HPU notched another last at-bat win in the sixth inning. Ellenwood doubled and
William Leskovec singled to put Ellenwood at third with one out for
Ryan Torres-Torioka. He bunted down the first base line, the pitcher fielded it, looked towards home, and then threw to first but Torres-Torioka beat out the throw. Oshiro followed with a hit to score another run and make the score 6-4.

Oshiro continued his strong play with two hits, two RBI, a run, and his league-leading 14th stolen base. Ellenwood tallied two more hits to put his average at an incredible.439 on the season. Leskovec and Lenik also had two hits each.

Jeremy Fujimoto threw two and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief to earn the win.

The Sea Warriors now travel to Dixie State for a four-game series beginning on March 21st
