Men’s Tennis Stays Hot in Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV (March 18, 2014) – The fifth-ranked Hawai'i Pacific Men's Tennis Team moved to 11-0 on the season with a 9-0 win over #17 Midwestern State (8-3).

The first doubles team of Petr Michnev and Thibaud Berland delivered an early statement with a convincing 8-2 win. Jaume Martinez-Vich and Mattis Wetzel were close behind with an 8-2 victory. Adriano Locorotondo and Yann Renault needed a little bonus tennis, but completed the Sea Warriors doubles sweep, 9-7.

Singles play followed a similar theme as HPU did not drop a set. Sixth-ranked Martinez-Vich overwhelmed #27 Kyle Davidson with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Wetzel and Locorotondo were also dominant, limiting their opponents to just six combined games each.

The Sea Warriors are now 4-0, all against ranked teams, on their cross-country odyssey. Tomorrow, HPU will wrap up the Vegas segment of the trip with a match against second-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State.
