Box Score 2 ST. GEORGE, UT (March 21, 2014) — The Hawai`i Pacific Baseball Team (14-8, 8-6) lost both ends of the doubleheader with Dixie State (18-11, 12-2) in Utah on Friday afternoon. The Sea Warriors fell 6-3 in game one and then 4-2 in the second game.
The Red Storm got on the board first in game one with a pair of runs in the second inning. They added two more in both the fifth and sixth innings to take a 6-0 lead.
The Sea Warriors broke through in the seventh,
Derek Nakasato singled up the middle and then
Kevin Lenik followed with a two-run homerun to left field to make it 6-2. A
Codey Ellenwood RBI single later in the inning made it 6-3. HPU loaded the bases with no outs, but failed to push another run across as the Red Strom bullpen held.
Brent Daugherty continued his excellent season two more scoreless innings out of the pen.
In game two, it was the Sea Warriors who struck first. RBI singles from
William Leskovec in the second inning and
Chad Bolibol in the third gave HPU a 2-0 lead.
The Red Storm answered with a pair of unearned runs to tie the game in the in the sixth inning. The home team took the lead in the seventh and added an insurance run in the eighth.
Bryson Gauthe started and was very good; the senior did not allow an earned run in seven innings of work.
Pulama Silva added a scoreless inning in relief.
Chad Bolibol had two hits in the second game and three for the day.
The two teams will play another doubleheader tomorrow at noon (Hawai'i time).
