MIAMI SHORES, FL (March 22, 2014) – With the newest ITA national rankings coming out on Wednesday, the Hawai'i Pacific Men's Tennis Team (13-0) is making an argument for it to be top ranked. HPU made an emphatic statement to the country on Saturday with a 5-4 win over #1 Barry University (14-2) on the road, just days after beating #2.
The fifth-ranked Sea Warriors took two points in doubles play when the first and second teams of

Thibaud Berland and
Mattis Wetzel/
Jaume Martinez-Vich were victorious.
Michnev took care of business at first singles, winning 7-6, 6-1, to give HPU its third point.
Barry, however, won at second, fourth, and fifth singles to earn a 4-3 lead.
Berland went down 4-0 in the decisive third set at third singles, but rallied and won the match (6-4) on a thunderous ace to tie the match at four all.
It all came down the sixth singles, were
Clemens Graute lost the first set in a tiebreak but then won the second set the same way. In the third set, the German national rose up and earned a 6-3 win to deliver the victory for HPU.
The path doesn't get much easier for HPU, the Sea Warriors play at #4 Lynn University tomorrow.
