HONOLULU, HI (March 9, 2014)—The Hawai`i Pacific Women's Tennis Team earned a 9-0 victory over Holy Names (2-3) on Sunday. The fourth-ranked Sea Warriors move to 8-1 on the season.
Doubles were dominated by the Sea Warriors as
Karen Ramirez and
Celina Goetti won 8-0 in the second position as did Magdelena Smejova and
Lorena Gheorghe at third doubles. HPU took first doubles 8-6 to earn all three doubles points.
In singles action, the Sea Warriors kept the heat on winning all six matches in straight sets. Gheorghe and
Lea Kruse-Utermann won their matches at third and fourth singles respectively without dropping a single game. Smejova and Sofia Tativitan each won their matches 6-1, 6-1 as HPU took the match easily 9-0.
HPU will now embark on a cross-country road trip ranging from Sand Diego, to Las Vegas, to Central and South Florida. The Sea Warriors will face the best Division II has to offer beginning with Cal State LA on March 14
th in La Jolla, CA.
