SURPRISE, AZ (April 19, 2014)— For the second straight year the Hawai`i Pacific Men's Tennis Team (20-0) won the Pacific West Conference Championship, defeating Azusa Pacific (19-6) 5-0. The Sea Warriors won all three of their tournament matches without dropping a single game.
The equation remained the same for the Sea Warriors as they took all three doubles matches for a 3-0 lead.
The HPU men kept momentum going into singles play as
Clemens Graute and
Mattis Wetzel each coasted to straight sets victories in sixth and fourth singles respectively, giving HPU the conference title.
Petr Michnev was chosen as the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
The third-ranked Sea Warriors will now await their draw in the NCAA National Championships.
