Box Score 2 HILO, HI (May 3, 2014) – The Hawai'i Pacific Baseball Team (27-22) dropped both ends of Saturday's non-conference doubleheader to UH Hilo (13-31). HPU lost a close 4-3 game in the opener and fell 4-1 in the nightcap.
The Sea Warriors drew first blood in game one when they plated two runs in the fourth inning.
Kevin Lenik drove in the game's first run on a fielder's choice before
Chad Bolibol drove in the second run with an RBI single to left field.
The Vulcans tied the game with two runs in the sixth inning and then took the lead with another tally in the seventh inning.
As has been the case all year, the Sea Warriors were again good in the ninth inning. After a walk and a sacrifice, Bolibol delivered a clutch two-out RBI single to knot the game at three.
The bullpen couldn't hold back the home team as UHH had a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth.
The Sea Warrior offense went cold in the seven-inning second game; HPU managed just three hits while being shutout in the first six innings. UHH meanwhile scored three runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to gain a 4-0 advantage.
HPU mounted a rally late with
Lanan Rice-Kashima driving in a run in the seventh inning with a single. However, the Sea Warriors left two men on base as the rally fizzled.
HPU closes the season tomorrow with another doubleheader vs. UHH starting at noon.
