Women’s Soccer Dodges Dominican

Box Score WAIPIO, HAWAII (October 19, 2015)—The Hawaii Pacific women's soccer team picked up its second consecutive win with a 3-1 victory over Dominican University of California in a PacWest Conference contest at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park Field 5.

The Sharks (6-7, 3-5 PacWest) took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute as Erika Ellis and Noelle Mercado pieced together passes that led to Sara Romo's goal from just outside the six-yard box. Mercado then scored a goal of her own in the 65th minute after receiving a sweet, looping cross from Christina Imada. Romo notched her second goal in the 69th minute on a chip pass from Mercado, who finished with two assists on the afternoon.
 
The Penguins (4-8-1, 4-4) received a goal in the waning seconds from Kayla Karlsson. Dominican was out-shot 12-7 by the Sharks.
 
HPU returns to action with a home contest at Atherton Field as the Sharks face Holy Names University on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 12:30 p.m.
