Women’s Soccer Edges Holy Names

Box Score WAIPIO, HAWAII (October 24, 2015)—Sara Romo's goal in the 89th minute helped propel the Hawaii Pacific women's soccer team past Holy Names 2-1 in a PacWest Conference contest at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

The Sharks (7-7, 4-5 PacWest) went ahead for good in the waning seconds as Romo received a well-timed pass from Noelle Mercado and lobbed the shot over approaching goalkeeper Tiana Miyashiro to secure the win.

After initially falling behind early in the second half, Stefanie Catone provided the equalizing goal in the 69th minute as her shot found the top corner of the net.

The Hawks (5-8, 3-6) initially went ahead 1-0 in the 49th minute when Gabriela Valle converted a shot from the left side of the box after receiving a pass from Krista Bartzi.

HPU hits the road for a three-match West Coast trip before returning to Atherton Field on Nov. 7 for Senior Day and the season finale against UH Hilo at 12:30 p.m. The Sharks are riding a three-match winning streak, the squad's longest victorious stretch of the 2015 campaign.
