Women’s Tennis Continues Dominance in Hawaii

HONOLULU, HI (March 5, 2015) – The Hawai'i Pacific Women's Tennis Team (7-1) continued its strong play with a 9-0 pasting of UH Hilo (1-7). The Sharks currently rule Hawai'i with a combined 18-0 score in the last two matches vs. Chaminade and UH Hilo.

Kristyna Hancarova had a perfect day; the HPU newcomer teamed up with Lorena Gheorghe to win 8-0 in doubles and then won her singles match 6-0, 6-0. The doubles teams of Lea Kruse-Utermann/Nicole Hoynaski (8-2) and Vivian Hansen/Sofia Tavitian (8-1) weren't far behind to give HPU a 3-0 lead headed into singles play.

Similar to doubles, the Sharks had their way. Kruse-Utermann and Julia Sauer each only yielded one game in the straight set victories. Hansen, Gheorghe, and Hoynaski also went unchallenged as the trio gave up a total of nine games in six sets.

The Sharks are back on the court tomorrow at 10:30 am at Ala Moana Park when Dominican comes to visit.
