HONOLULU, HI (March 6, 2015) – The Hawai'i Pacific Women's Tennis Team (8-1) beat PacWest foe Dominican (1-5) 8-1 on Friday morning at Ala Moana Park.

For the first time since February 15th, the Sharks lost a match to a Division II school. The Penguins won at second doubles, but HPU posted two victories to lead going into singles.

Lorena Gheorghe, who was perfect on the day (won 6-0, 6-0 in singles), partnered with Lea Kruse-Utermann for a statement-making 8-0 win at third doubles. The first doubles team of Kristyna Hancarova and Nicole Hoynaski had little trouble winning 8-3.

Singles play was a landslide for HPU with the Sharks claiming all six matches. Hancarova continued to make her case to be ranked in the next ITA rankings with a 6-4, 6-1 win over #36 Rickimae Torres. Vivian Hansen joined Gheorghe with an unblemished singles performance. Hoynaski, Sofia Tavitian, and Kruse-Utermann all recorded wins without incident.

HPU returns to the court on March 8th to host Division I Cleveland State at 10:00 am at Central Oahu Regional Park.
