SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 1, 2016) – The second-ranked Hawaii Pacific men's tennis team defeated No. 11 Azusa Pacific University 8-1 as the Sharks remained perfect on the season.
The Sharks (5-0) were led by sixth-ranked
Thibaud Berland, who upset top-ranked Jan Meyer 6-4, 7-6 in the No. 1 singles position. HPU's
Alexander Meyer notched a marathon win over Christian Schmid in the No. 2 slot, 2-6, 6-3, 10-6. Eighth-ranked Jaume Martinez Vich was also victorious and dispatched Alan Leahy 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles slot.

Jakub Hadrava and
Clemens Graute also notched wins in the singles competition for the Sharks.
In doubles action, HPU's tandem of Meyer and Berland teamed up to down APU's duo of Meyer and Olger Van Gent, 8-4. The Sharks also received doubles wins from Dolezel and Martinez Vich (8-3) as well as Hadrava and Otto (8-4).
HPU returns to the court on Friday, March 4 for a highly-anticipated matchup with top-ranked Barry University (Fla.).
