PENSACOLA, Fla. (April 10, 2016) – The ninth-ranked Hawaii Pacific women's tennis team dropped its regular-season finale on the road 6-0 to No. 4 Armstrong State (Ga.) University and will take its 13-4 record into the PacWest postseason tournament.
HPU's top-ranked doubles team of
Kristyna Hancarova (sophomore from Karvina, Czech Republic) and
Nicole Hoynaski (junior from Sydney, Australia) dropped to 14-2 on the season after the tandem was felled by the No. 3 team of Lena Lutzeier and Diana Stomlega, 8-2.
Lutzeier, the ninth-ranked singles player, also defeated No. 15 Hancarova in individual action, 6-4, 6-0. Fifth-ranked Alejandra Cisneros downed HPU's
Syna Kayser 6-2, 6-3 to help the Pirates improve to 21-1 on the season.
The Sharks women will now prepare for the PacWest Championships in Surprise, Ariz., which run April 13-16.
