WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific University and Holy Names battled for 110 minutes on Saturday afternoon at the Waipio Soccer Complex before settling for a double overtime scoreless tie in PacWest play.
The Sharks (5-3-1, 1-2-1) posted their first tie in three overtime games this season. The Hawks (0-7-1, 0-2-1) also tied for the first time in 2017.
The goalkeepers the stars of the show, as both HPU's
Lauren Spencer and Holy Names' Alyssa Lopez collected shutouts in holding their opposition scoreless.
Spencer, a junior from Oxford, Mich./Oxford, chalked up seven saves on the 12 shots attempted by the Hawks in recording her third shutout of the season.
Lopez made 10 saves on the 13 HPU shots to pick up her first shutout of the season.

Lei Kaina of Waipahu, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama and freshman
Alissa Lei Walin of Paia, Hawai'i/Seabury Hall led the Sharks with two shots, both on goal.
HPU opened a three-game homestand with the contest. The Sharks are back at the Waipio Soccer Complex on Thursday afternoon when they host Academy of Art at 12:30 p.m.
