SAVANNAH, Ga. -- No. 1 Hawai'i Pacific University picked up its second straight loss on the spring break road trip to Georgia, losing 5-4 in a tight match at No. 3 Armstrong State at the Armstrong Tennis Center.

The Sharks (5-3) took the top singles positions, but Armstrong (11-1) claimed the bottom three singles with two of the three doubles points to win in a battle of Division II's top programs.

HPU got a big win from 34th ranked
Torben Otto who upset fourth ranked Alberto Caceres in a grueling three-setter at No. 2 singles, 6-7 (7-9), 6-3, 10-5. HPU held strong at No. 1 singles with 13th ranked Filip Dolzel downing 28th ranked Luca Cerin 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 6-3. The Sharks
Jakub Hadrava won at No. 3 singles by beating Bjorn Kurtze 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

HPU battled in doubles, with the No. 3 team of
Juan Erro/
Filip Soban getting by Cerin/Ignacio Hernandez 9-7. Armstrong took the other hotly contested doubles points that spelled the difference in the match. The Sharks No. 1 team of Dolzel/Hadrava were edged by fifth ranked Caceres/Jan Porteset 9-8 (7-5), while
Jack Lyttle/Otto fell at No. 2 to Lorenzo Camilli/Kurtz 8-6.

The Pirates claimed the No. 6 singles with Alvaro Cruz Chomorro beating Lyttle 6-3, 6-1, and 22nd ranked Ignacio Hernandez winning at No. 4 over Soban 6-2, 6-4. Armstrong clinched the match when Porteset defeated Erro at No. 5, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2
