LAIE, Hawai'i – No. 1 BYU-Hawaii defeated No. 5 Hawai'i Pacific University 8-1 in women's tennis action on Tuesday at the BYUH Tennis Courts.
The Sharks (10-4) lost to the Seasiders (24-0) in the final regular season match ever for the BYU-Hawaii women.
HPU scored only at the No. 3 singles spot, where 48th ranked
Oceane Adam defeated second ranked Min Liu 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8).
Top ranked Nannan "Dallas" Zhang led BYU-Hawaii, beating the third ranked
Nicole Hoynaski of HPU 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.
Eleventh ranked Xin Wen of BYUH downed 19th ranked
Lara Meccico 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, while the Seasiders Leah Heimuli beat
Barbora Kijasova 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. At No. 5 singles BYUH's Michelle Li Sha Khoo defeated Leticia dos Santos 6-3, 6-4, and at No. 6 singles BYUH's Jeong-Min Jeon beat
Bianca Schulhof 6-0, 6-1.
The Seasiders also swept all three doubles points, starting with second ranked Zhang/Wen over Meccico/Kijasova 8-3 at No. 1. In the nationally-ranked battle at No. 2, 11th ranked Min Liu/Heimuli beat HPU's ninth ranked team of Hoynaski/Adam 8-3. At No. 3, Jeon/Khoo beat Schulof/dos Santos 8-4.
The Sharks have one more regular season match on March 17, when they face Western New Mexico in a neutral site match in Surprise, Ariz., just prior to the PacWest Conference Tournament March 19-22.
