ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The season came to an end for No. 4 Hawai'i Pacific University as the defending national champions reign came to an end with a 5-0 loss to No. 1 West Florida in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Tennis Championships at Sanlando Park.
The Sharks (17-5) opened with losses in all three doubles flights to the Argonauts (30-1), spelling doom for the defending champs who had lost 5-4 to UWF earlier this season.
The Argos opened with Warren Kuhn/Pablo Tellez winning at No. 3 doubles over

Juan Erro 8-4.
Then the top Sharks doubles duos fell. In a battle of top three ranked duos, top ranked Alex Peyrot/Pedro Dumont defeated the Sharks third ranked
Filip Dolezel/
Jakub Hadrava 8-5 at No. 1, then 23rd ranked Gabriel Dias/Pedro Roese got by HPU's Toben Otto/
Jack Lyttle 8-6.
The 3-0 sweep of doubles meant that to advance, the Sharks would need to win five of the six singles flights.
The Argos had other thoughts, first with Sebastian Sanchez downing Erro 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6. Then UWF ended the match as Serdar Bojadjiev defeated Hadrava 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 for the 5-0 decision.
The other flights were pulled with eighth ranked Otto up a set, leading 45th ranked Kuhn 7-6 (7-4) at No. 2 and
Gerard Andres Rodriguez leading Dumont 7-5, 4-0 at No. 4. Sixth ranked Dolezel was trailing 15th ranked Dias 6-3, 5-3 at No. 1, with Soban up 5-1 in the second set at No 5 to Alfonso Castellano who took the first set 6-4.
