IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University pitcher
Shane Adams has been selected the PacWest Conference Baseball Freshman of the Week for his performance against Hawai'i Hilo this weekend.
Adams, a 6-0 freshman right handed starter from Honolulu/Mid-Pacific Institute, collected his second win of the season in an 9-2 victory on Sunday at Hilo. Adams struck out four while allowing one run on seven hits with a walk in seven complete innings. He leads the HPU staff with 11.2 innings pitched with nine strikeouts this season with a 1.54 earned run average.
The Sharks are off to an 8-2 record and are 1-1 in PacWest Conference play, as the first two games of last weekend's five-game series with UH Hilo were conference contests.
Joining Adams with the PacWest weekly awards are Concordia Irvine's Cooper Moore as Player of the Week and UH Hilo's Kyle Acorn as Pitcher of the Week.
The Sharks square off against the Vulcans once again this weekend as UH Hilo visits Oahu for a four-game non-conference series against HPU at Hans L'Orange Park, with a doubleheader on Saturday at 2 p.m. and a twinbill Sunday afternoon at 11 a.m.
