Brandon Peterson has been selected the PacWest Conference Pitcher of the Week for his outstanding play last week. The announcement was made Monday by the conference office.
Peterson, a 6-1 junior righthander from Stockton, Calif./Excel Academy, pitched six complete innings in relief giving up four hits with eight strikeouts and no walks as he was charged with two unearned runs on Friday night against conference favorite Azusa Pacific at Hans L'Orange Park. Peterson received no decision in the game that APU won by scoring seven times in the ninth inning to fall 12-5 after Peterson had been lifted before the inning started.
Joining Peterson with weekly conference honors are Concordia Irvine's Cooper Moore as the PacWest Player of the Week and CUI's Derek Delgado as the PacWest Freshman of the Week.
The Sharks (5-8, 1-5) return to PacWest Conference action on Wednesday and Thursday with a pair of doubleheaders against Biola at Hans L'Orange Park. First pitch for both first games is set for 4:30 p.m.
