IRVINE, Calif. –Hawai'i Pacific University's
Olivia West has been slected the PacWest Conference Hawai'i Pod Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the conference office for her outstanding play to open the 2021 PacWest season.
West, a 5-7 senior transfer from Launceston, Australia/Templestowe via Utah State, scored a season-high 30 points for the Sharks in Sunday's 69-56 win at Hawai'i-Hilo. She was 10-of-15 from the floor, 3-of-7 from the 3-point arc, and 7-of-9 from the foul line. In HPU's 69-46 win at UH Hilo on Saturday, she recorded a game-high 10 rebounds, an assist and a steal.
She was also pivotal in the Sharks 82-74 victory at Hawai'i in December, collecting 22 points with four rebounds.
The victories stretch HPU's winning streak to 28 games while running its season record to 3-0.
West is joined this week by the PacWest Southern California Pod Player of the Week Michaela VanderKlugt of Concordia Irvine.
The Sharks get to play at home for the first time this weekend. HPU hosts Chaminade on Saturday and Sunday in contests that tip at Noon in The Shark Tank.
