GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The NCAA Division II Women's West Regional is having to make a schedule adjustment because of the late withdrawal of one of the teams.
Top-seeded Colorado School of Mines will not be able to complete in the tournament at Colorado Mesa's Brownson Arena this weekend due to COVID-19 and contact tracing protocols.
The result of this action is that the winner of the quarterfinal between fifth-seeded Hawai'i Pacific University (13-0) and fourth-seeded Azusa Pacific University (10-4) on Friday at 2 p.m. HST (5 p.m. MST) will advance to Monday's championship game to meet the winner of the other side of the bracket.
Only one semifinal game will be played on Saturday at 4 p.m. HST (7 p.m. MST) , featuring second-seeded Western Colorado (14-5) and the winner of the other quarterfinal between third-seeded Westminster (Utah) (11-5) and sixth-seeded Black Hills State (S.D.) (14-8).
The West Region Championship game is Monday at 2 p.m. HST (6 p.m. MDT), with the victor headed to the NCAA Division II Women's Elite Eight in Columbus, Ohio March 23-26.
