Baseball Schedule Changes, Sharks To Play At Les Murakami Stadium

HONOLULU – The Hawai'i Pacific University baseball schedule has been changed for the rest of the 2021 season, as the Sharks have a place to play home games: Les Murakami Stadium.

HPU and the University of Hawai'i have reached an agreement that allows HPU to host games at Les Murakami Stadium on the weekends that the Rainbow Warriors are traveling to the mainland.

"We want to thank Coach Mike Trapasso, Murakami Stadium manager Glenn Nakaya, and the UH Athletic Administration for allowing us the opportunity to use one of the top facilities in collegiate baseball," said HPU Coach Dallas Correa. "Because of city and county restrictions, we couldn't have been able to play a game on Oahu without their support. I also want to thank our own HPU Athletic Administration for making this happen for us."

The Sharks host Hawai'i Hilo for a pair of series in Manoa, starting this weekend, April 9-11. The two teams will meet again at Murakami Stadium the weekend of April 30-May 2.

While both series are slated for five-game affairs, this weekend's series has one more partial game added to it as the Sharks and Vulcans will complete last Saturday's halted game at 4 p.m. on Friday prior to playing the scheduled 9-inning contest following the contest. HPU has a 6-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning with UH Hilo at-bat. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday and Sunday, starting both days at 11 a.m.

The games on April 30-May 2 follow the same pattern of a single game on Friday starting at 4 p.m., with doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m.

No spectators will be allowed to attend the games, but a free video webstream will be available at HPUSharks.com.

Obtaining use of Murakami Stadium has forced other changes in the baseball schedule as well. The scheduled doubleheaders on April 17-18 will now be played at UH Hilo's George & Marion Hall Stadium on campus. The contests on April 17 will begin at Noon, with the April 18 games starting at 11 a.m. Also, the weekend of April 24-25 is an open weekend for the teams.
