Noah Blythe was selected the PacWest Conference Baseball Player of the Week and pitcher
Gavin Pringle was honored as PacWest Freshman of the Week for their outstanding play in last weekend.
The duo led the Sharks who won four of the five-games against Hawai'i Hilo at Les Murakami Stadium to stay alive in the race for the PacWest Hawai'i title.
Blythe, a freshman from Santa Clarita, Calif./Canyon, hit .450 for the five-game series, going 9-for-20 at the plate with four doubles, a triple and six RBIs. He chalked up a .750 slugging percentage with 15 total bases, including a walk and a sacrifice bunt. The first baseman also had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
Pringle, a freshman righthander from Duncan, British Columbia, Canada, hurled 4.2 innings of shutout baseball, allowing three hits and notching five strikeouts in picking up two of the four wins in the series.
The HPU duo are joined by PacWest Pitcher of the Week Collin Carriger of Academy of Art.
The Sharks (8-16, 8-12 PacWest) and UH Hilo are still rescheduling four makeup contests from the season. HPU can tie the Vulcans by winning all four games remaining, while UHH can clinch the title outright with one victory.
