HONOLULU – Hawai'i Pacific University's
Paige Delman was honored as the National Acrobatics & Tumbling Association's Freshman of the Week for her performance in last week's match for the Sharks.
Delman, a 5-3 freshman base and tumbler from Boulder, Colo./Silver Creek, competed in 10 heats and the team event for the No. 5 Sharks against No. 2 Azusa Pacific. Her performance was highlighted by a perfect score in the compulsory pyramid and a 9.95 in the compulsory toss. She also helped HPU to a 9.90 in the open pyramid and a 9.80 in the inversion pyramid. In all, Delman helped the Sharks post six scores of 9.50 or higher.
She is joined in the weekly honors by NCATA Athlete of the Week Emily Tobin of Baylor and NCATA Specialist of the Week Bayley Humphrey of Baylor.
The Sharks were also recognized as junior top and tumbler
Ravenna Bala of Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe was an honorable mention for Athlete of the Week.
The No. 5 Sharks compete again next week on Tuesday, March 1, when they visit No. 2 Azusa Pacific for a tri-meet the Cougars and No. 6 Gannon (Pa.). The match at the Felix Event Center is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. HST (6 p.m. PST).
